Osram Cool Blue Intense vs. OEM - Pic comparo

Pic comparo for you guys. I made a mistake with the WB, but since i already started with the setting in the before, i kept it for the afters.

Photos are untouched other than the cropping and info text overlays. It's not as blue in person.

In fact, if you shifted the WB to the warmer side a bit, it would also show the somewhat yellower OEM by comparison (although, in these photos, you can already tell the difference.)

Only 10 minutes on the bulbs*, time will tell how much brighter or different the color gets after a dozen or so hours.

*On this end. I'm not sure how long the gentleman i bought this from had it... not more than an hour i would think.

Nice comparo!

One thing I hate about our projectors is that it doesn't project a uniform color. The lens distorts the color which is easily seen against a wall. I know people get much better uniformity with the STi lens upgrade (or was that TSX?)

Thanks guys. These are just low beams, from about... a school bus or so away from the wall.

+1 on the non-uniform color. I'm thinking of going with the STI-R lens upgrade, but am having reservations on whether it's too much contrast from dark/light due to the sharper cut-offs.

nice pics, although the osram is brighter, I can make out more detail with the stockers (less washed out!)

Isn't OEM lights 4100K? You do know 4100K is brighter than 5000K right? Scientific fact, higher kelvin numbers give less output than lower ones. All the higher Kelvin number gives you is color. It's no coincedence most OEM HID lights are 4100 or 4300K.

I do. OEM is 4300k and settles in at 5000k.

While generally true, what really matters is the lumen output. The Osram Cool Blue Intense (CBI) at 5000K has the same amount of lumen output as the 4300K OEM lights (not 4100K.)

These are actually the same light output as OEM while at 5000k.
