Got $500, Stillen Gen3 or Injen Dual CAI?

Alright, I have five hundred just sitting around put away to get an intake. Now that I finally have it, I would really like to know which one yall think I should get. I already know pretty much everything about each, so I'm not really looking for specs. Mostly I would like to hear reviews from the Gen3 crowd after driving around with it for a bit since I really haven't seen many, and would like to know if any Injen ppl have gotten it dynoed. Also, if anyone could compare the noise increase of the two that would be great. Lastly, how is maintenance for each (difficulty/cost)? Thanks in advance

Sound wise, i think all intakes are about the same, but if i had to chose between the two, id go with the Stillen Gen 3, b/c i like it's design... Where as the CAI doesn't really have direct air flow going to it...

Stillen might have a bit more gain than the Injen but the Injens are way louder. My friends who have loud exhausts, say when i gun it, my car is louder than their car lol
After 3,500rpm my car is screaming but the reflash also changed the tone a bit. Sort of weird but its a good thing lol

Stillen is NOT at all loud. Well.. under normal driving, you can barely notice that you have an aftermarket intake. However when you really get on it, that's where you really hear it scream. I know that Injens are a bit louder than the Stillens.

If I were to do it all over again.. I'd still go w/ the Stillen Gen 3.

I also think intakes sound similar. The G3 is not loud and not obtrusive. My biggest worry was fitment and that hasn't been a problem after install.

Now how difficult is the install for the Injen? I hear you have to move the washer fluid reservoir somewhere, but how difficult is that? Also, how difficult is it to change the filters for the Injen?

Hey J2S2M, how come you would go with the Gen3 over Injen if you had to do it all over again, cause you said the Injens were louder. What about the Gen3 makes it better?

My concern with the Gen 3 is that I would imagine the filters would get dirtier faster, considering the placement.
More cool air, maybe... but there's also a chance of more grime getting there, especially in the regions that see winter nastiness.

Anyone with a Gen 3 that can chime in on this?

I personally think the design of the STILLEN system is better for performance since it allows more cold air than the INJEN, hence the name COLD AIR INTAKE. I am not saying that the INJEN is any worse.. but I just think the design of the STILLEN and how it draws air directly from the grill is more innovative than all the conventional intake system out there.

As far as its real life performance gains, I have no way to really tell since I have never dynoed my car. According to the dyno by STILLEN, it showed gains all throughout the powerband for our sedans. From my personal experience, I strongly feel that I definitely gained some power in the top end.

I was initially very concerned about hydrolock issues w/ the STILLEN gen 3 due to the placement of the filter. However, the plastic piece over the filter provides plenty of protection from fair amount of debris and water. I live in sunny Cali and rain was not much of a factor for my purchase but if I lived where I would get constant heavy rain, I would've opted not go w/ a extra long tube intake system.

Guys, do any of these intakes, CAI or SRI, cause the engine to run lean?

G37 Coupe forum, there is a guy actually run a serious Dyno for Injen and it was very well done and impressive test.

People actually wanted to drop Stillen and get Injen on that forum due to the Dyno result and plus the ease of installation.

Stillen required some of the cutting.

Because of the fitment issue, I would chose the Injen over the Stillen. Both make comparable power (although the Injen may also have the slight edge here). Both installations require removing the bumper cover.

If and when I pick one up, I'm leaning toward the Injen as well.
