Need to decide on Spark Plug: NGK Laser Platinum or Iridium IX

My 2003 G35 has 118K miles and need to change my spark plugs. Here is what I have narrowed down to (in order to preference):

1. NGK Laser Platiunum PLFR5A-11 (OEM) ($10.09)
2. NGK Iridium IX LFR5AIX-11 ($8.59)
3. Bosch Platinum+4 ($4.99)

(All prices are from AdvanceAutoParts.com)

I read a lot of threads suggesting to stick to NGK (which also makes the OEM), so the Bosch is at the bottom. I am having hard time to decide whether to stick with the OEM (Laser Platinum) or go with the Iridium IX??

I read that the Iridium is supposed give better performance.

Any suggestions welcome.

Stock Laser Platinum's are rated at 105k miles before a swap and must be pretty damn good to last that long. Honestly you are not going to notice a difference in performance between iridium and laser platinums. You would have better impact if you cleaned out your Throttle body, ran seafoam through brake booster, and some sort of fuel additive like BG or Seafoam in the gas tank.

+1 on minimal difference between plat and iridium.

stay away from the +4's. Multi-prong plugs just arent really all that great. It's more marketing hype.

I used ngk iridium in my car and they work great, they are supposed to give you better performance than the platinums, and they are cheaper 2! I suggest you go with iridium

Sure they are cheaper, and but they also have to be replaced sooner.

FYI, expect to find some oil on the plugs when you pull them out. Spark plug seals are molded into the valve covers.

just bought ngk laser platimums off amazon. No tax and free shipping. I'm at 105,000 miles so it'll be fun to see how my plugs look at the recommended interval to change them. =p

This is why you do your spark plugs before your powertrain runs out and get free valve covers at that time if they are leaking under warranty. Yeah they are rated at 105k but either check for common cylinders that leak or change all plugs before power train runs out.

Just got pack of six NGK Laser Platinum from Advanceautoparts.com. Used coupon "A123" (20 off 50).

(6 x $10.09) - $20.00 + $2.44 (tax) = $42.98 total (pick up local store).

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Replaced the spark plugs over the weekend. Car is running just fine. The old ones were in a miserable condition (118K miles).. whew.

I did not understand your question.

My dilemma was to choose between the 3 spark plugs I mentioned but I went with the OEM (choice 1). I don't know if there would have been a performance boost if I had not gone with the OEM.

Basically, what he was saying is that at the end of the day, it's not gonna really make a difference
