brake job cost?

hey guys i have a 2004 g35 coupe automatic transmission. 130,000km.

now,my brakes have been squeeling about half a year now and i know its time to replace all my brake components. i know nothing about cost or parts price or labour on brakes. I have a friend that has his own tools but doesnt really have advanced shop tools. I also drive like a grandma, slow and safe, basically i just drive to work and back, so i dont need any racing brakes. I understand the dealership will charge big bucks.

I was looking to buy my own brakes on ebay as a kit or even at a local parts store. what brand or kind besides oem is ok for long lasting and my type of driving? basically, im just trying to save the most money as i can. any suggestions?

Brakes are so easy to do on the infiniti's. You're looking at around 150 dollars in labor or do it yourself for free!

I just replaced my front rotors a short while ago. I ordered some Brembo blanks (I do not have Brembo brakes BTW), and hawk HPS pads from Tirerack.com.

I only use my car for daily use as well, so I didn't want anything extravagant. The Brembo blanks were just a personal preference, and I had heard good things about the Hawk HPS pads (better bite, less brake dust).

I wouldn't bother with any cross drilled/slotted rotors for everyday use though, the cheaper ones have a higher chance of fracturing anyway. And I would also stay away from the stealership, they would charge you an arm and leg..

Just the fronts or backs? or both front and back?

Like someone stated, labor should cost about $150 to $300 depending on the type of shop.

But most shops won't be willing to replace safety items like brake components with parts you brought in yourself, and shops like that will usually charge you about $800 to $1000 for parts and labor.

But like others stated, the brakes are easy to do on the G. The only special tool you'd need is the cube attachment which barely costs$10 to $20 at your local auto parts store.

Search a little harder. Plenty of brake DIY's out there. Pads are easy. Rotors should be too, unless you've never changed them and they're stuck on there.

Haynes Manual (repair manual), it comes in handy. You can DIY, just make sure you have all the tools before starting.
